Chapter 5 Letting Go 77
MY EYES FINALLY OPENED to bright sunshine streaming across the multi-colored roses of my comforter. I could tell it was later than I usually ever sleep. As I sat up and checked out the digital clock on the dresser, I saw that it was after 9:30. It felt so good just to be here in my bed, knowing no one was waiting for me to come and fix him or her. It was truly time to fix Rosie. I just lay still remembering all that happened last night. I thought about all I had discovered about shame. I felt filled and happy knowing that somehow all this was leading me to understand compassion and how to guide people there, especially and first of all, myself!
Then, I thought of Emily, and recalled that she would be here in the late afternoon to hear what it is that’s so important. I thought about the angel reminding me that Emily may not be ready to understand. It may not be her time yet to find the doorway. I was wondering what that would mean to me. I wondered how I would respond tonight. Somehow, that thought felt uncomfortable inside me.
I heard the television from downstairs. And where were Max and the kitties? They would never have let me sleep this long. I was starting to think I had fallen asleep and awoken in The Twilight Zone. Then I heard Chris’s voice from the kitchen, “Get off that counter, Sara! People eat off there, you silly cat.”
