Chapter 13 The Warning 262

DEEP IN SLEEP AND moving toward dawn, I was once again in the turquoise blue sea with Estrella and Sol. Although they were friendly and moved in to swim with me, I could tell they were agitated. Something felt wrong. In my dream, Estrella was not pregnant and Sol kept trying to move her away from me, and at the same time, he seemed to be pushing me to dive more deeply into the sea. Once again, I was amazed at how easily I could breathe as I moved into the rhythm they were setting for me. Losing track of time, we swam in confusion. The sun shining through the aqua waters had gone away. Suddenly the ocean seemed so dark and unfriendly. Pushing my way to the surface, I took a deep breath of air and opened my eyes to see a very frightening sky. The waves were huge and angry, and the sky was dark and foreboding. Heavy rain pelted my skin, and water rushed into my nose and mouth. I felt as if I was drowning in the storm. Panicking, I looked around for the dolphins, but I was alone. I grew weary of struggling against the sea and gave up. As I did, I was carried downward in a spiral, further and further, until everything went black and still.

“Mom,” Emily’s voice came from far away. “Wake up. You’re having a bad dream.”
