IX Dynamic Attunement 198

The Circe Effect

Perhaps an experienced traveler of the doublehelix will one day find the attraction of the transition, to hear Circe’s call and feel the Circe effect that makes him release the old and enter the transition graciously. Knowing that he can become a truer self and get prepared to reach the highest levels of his talent.

When the anxiety of forceful change turns into an attraction of transformation, the zero-zone doesn’t feel like zero, but rather a peaceful and nourishing retreat amidst all dynamism and development.

"The Circe effect refers to the utilization of strong attractive forces to lure a substrate into a site in which it undergoes an extraordinary transformation of form and structure.” - Mark Washington

Listening and following a call is a more energetic point of departure for transformation than confronting a dead-end. The blind alleys of life are, however, great opportunities to learn how to discover the weak signals, to anticipate the need for change and to open up to hear the attractive call of Circe.

Renewal

“I think all human systems require continuous renewal. They rigidify. They get stiff in the joints. They forget what they cared about. The forces against it are nostalgia and the enormous appeal of having things the way they have always been, appeals to a supposedly happy past. But we've got to move on.” - John Gardner
